Dear mildbrew, There are different ways of speaking truth. We have segment which is under inferiority
complex. What would be the politically correct path? First, don't let their
inferiority complex higher. Second, take such steps which reduce their
concepts.
Ayub Khan arrested Mujib-ur-Rehman that he is involved on a plan to separate
east Pakistan. Ayub speaks the truth but what was the outcome? Mujib-ur-Rehman
become hero becuase people didn't believe. Why? They were already having that
they are being colonized by the West Pakistan; and West
Pakistan is a usurper of our rights. Does Ayub Khan’s truth did
any good? No at all. Because it was a political matter. That case didn't have
the only legal side but socio-political as well which President Ayub had
neglected.
An aside: what term inhabitants of East Pakistan used referring to residents ofWest Pakistan? They used the term
"Punjabis". Reference: Witness to surrender by Sadiq Saliq. For them
Bhutto was also a Punjabi. Of course he wasn't punjabi but mental reality of
the inhabitants of East Pakistan was
different. So, in such a delicate situation one must keep in mind the mental
reality of the targeted group.
I didn't say you are wrong but your post has the potential to generate
undesirable response. Some matter are not that straight-forward. Sometimes history
views a matter in a socio-political context rather than what is right and
wrong. I hope you will understand. If
you have felt offensive by my previous or the present email, I apologize for
that. |
