Assalam o aleikum

have a look

_______
The Associated Press has obtained copies of documents describing "rules of engagement" that authorized U.S. Army Rangers to cross into Pakistan under certain circumstances.

AP says the documents, created in 2004, were part of the 1,100 records collected as part of the investigation into the death of Pat Tillman, a former NFL player who died in a friendly fire incident while serving in Afghanistan.

"Interviews with officers in the field, and the public statements of top U.S. commanders, indicate similar guidelines remain in place today," the wire service reports.

Pakistan, a key U.S. ally in the fight against al-Qaeda, was none to happy to hear about these guidelines, which don't include a requirement that commanders notify Islamabad in advance of any incursions.

"This is all nonsense. Pakistan never allowed the coalition forces to enter into our territory while chasing militants. There was no such agreement, there was no such understanding," Maj. Gen. Waheed Arshad tells the wire service.

Does this document prove anything but American desire to bully other countries?

If such an agreement between PAK and US exists it will be a very big upset and a disgrace to our nation and especially the army.

Anyhow Pakistan should take strong notice of this issue and ensure that every Yankee soldier leave PAK!!!

I don't think, they would dare to allow their forces for such operations - if they had not Pakistani permission. It was enough that they used our airspace to fire tomahawks against Afghanistan before 911.

The same old story. US says they have permission to make hot pursuit and Pakistan denies without doing anything against it.

Shelling from Afghanistan leaves 19 dead

KABUL, Aug 26: US-led forces and Afghan troops struck Taliban positions inside Pakistan in fresh clashes with the extremist militia that left at least 19 rebels dead, security forces said on Sunday.
The US-led coalition said it received permission from Pakistan to attack across the border on Saturday, but this was denied by the chief military spokesman in Islamabad.
Afghan and coalition forces used mortars and artillery fire to destroy insurgents’ attacking positions on both sides of the border after a military post in Afghanistan came under attack, the coalition said in a statement.
The Afghan army saw Taliban fighters firing mortars and rockets from several positions and Pakistan’s military confirmed three of the firing sites were on their soil, the statement said.
“The Pakistani military gave permission for the Afghan National Security Forces to fire on the targets located within Pakistan,” it said.
Six insurgent firing sites were destroyed -- three on each side of the border -- and more than a dozen insurgents were killed.
A Pakistani military spokesman denied any permission was given.
“There was no attack, no firing from our side of the border. And there was no permission asked by them or given by us,” Maj-Gen Waheed Arshad said.
US military spokeswoman Captain Vanessa Bowman insisted that “this was fully coordinated with Pakistan and agreed on”. There was a very close working relationship (with Pakistan) to eliminate this kind of threat, she said.—AFP

Pakistan raid was 'not approved'

US troops in Afghanistan
The US says that it respects the sovereignty of Pakistan
The US-led coalition in Afghanistan has admitted that it did not have permission from Pakistan to attack Taleban positions across the border.

The coalition originally said Pakistan had approved the attacks on Saturday, in which more than a dozen Taleban are said to have been killed.

At the time Islamabad said such suggestions were fabricated.

The coalition now says that further investigation showed no such authority had been granted from Pakistan.

'Important ally'

"We regret the miscommunication in this event," the coalition's deputy commanding general for operations, Brig-Gen Joseph Votel, said.

North Waziristan
The border areas between the two countries is a haven for militants

He said the coalition was committed to respecting the sovereign borders of Pakistan.

Brig-Gen Votel said that the coalition wanted to continue co-operation with Pakistan, "which has been an important ally in fighting the enemies of peace and stability".

"We appreciate the significant contributions Pakistan is making to the war on terror by conducting operations against al-Qaeda and Taleban extremist fighters who try to hide in their country," he said.

US President George Bush this month refused to rule out unilateral US strikes on Pakistani soil if specific intelligence pinpointed top al-Qaeda leaders.

Remnants of the Taleban fled to Pakistan after they were driven from Afghanistan during the US-led invasion of late 2001.

Islamabad has repeatedly said it would not allow foreign troops to hunt extremist militants linked to al-Qaeda or the Taleban on its soil.

It says that it is capable of dealing with them on its own.

The US and others say deals Pakistan made in tribal areas along the border with Afghanistan provided a "safe haven" for militants.
