Imran Khan has joined Twitter. ImranKhanPTI is his id there. Even though he has a lot of followers, some people just started to send some negative messages to him from the start. We can counter some of the hate with our support messages and show him that we are there for him. It is sad how some of our people can be so negative when we need to be positive and help each other's self-esteem to help build the country. That's what makes PTI different from other political parties. Self-esteem is in our Identity. Thank you all for continuing to support Imran Khan and the Tehreek-e-Insaf even at the toughest of times.

well, it may not be official. Web-management is working to organize facebook and twitter. To my knowledge, it is still in the process.

Whenever a pertinent thread or a blog comes up, we forward to concerned authorities which may made its way to IK which, I think, happens in majority of the cases. Chairman is not much fond of emerging digital technology as such. One of the office bearer in the US noted that IK has a quite old cell phone. He wanted to say may I get a new cell for you?

no he's giving up on the technology as nowadays his personal assistant in London holds the cell phone

Poor members were trying to contact him to discuss the matters but there is no way you can get to him unless you get a support from the top topmost leadership.

Its good IK has given up on technology.IK should be spending more time contacting people, organising jalsas, selecting electable candidates and above all working on political strategy (local issues) instead of working on technology and twitters. Leaders are meant to lead the public in order to generate verve and energy. This sms, technology, cell fone thing can be handled by his assistants. These blogs, twitters, sms, viedo conferencing are more useful in US and European Political markets not so much in Pakistan. His assistants, PTI members should be doing the donkey work (IT, Twitters, sms etc) and our leader IK should be doing the real political thing and that is genuine thara politics of Pakistan.

We should develop a culture of listening critics rather then spending time to counter it. There is a lot of criticism everywhere because our acts are not right. IT’S TIME, Mr Khan and CEC should follow the PTI website and the comments on it to improve the party rather then twittering or spending time to campaign for the family issues. If we don’t have any power, we can’t dictate any policy or programme. Mr Khan should have one issue to deal with, PTI, PTI and PTI. He should listen to others, to organize the party and, engage its workers at a local level before the NEXT general elections. If he could not do it, then, after that we will only twitter, twitter and twitter

for those who are against twittering and facebook, president obama successfully campaigned through this way as he replied and made contact with people online on daily basis. It is high time that we start using such technology.

There's nothing wrong in having an old cell phone. IK has always been a different person than the most powerful one's opt to turn to. So we being his followers shouldn't think such. As far as twitter is concerned,he's too busy for such things!

Its disappointing to know that Khan Sb is not interested in technology. If you are the leader of the 21st century then you have to live in one as well. This is the age of internet, social networking and smart phones we are talking about.

I made this point in another thread as well; we should be leading the way to capitalize on technology and fully use it to reach the masses.

I agree that internet is of no use to connect with rural parts of Pakistan however, internet and social networking sites like facebook, twitter etc may arguably be the most efficient medium to reach the young masses in Pakistan's urban areas and overseas.

My intention was not just to make suggestions, I volunteered to work on this agenda as well, however unfortunately even after emailing the webteam twice I didn't receive any reply. This shows that unfortunately our web team is either sleeping or they just want to do everything themselves.

FYI, one leader who is very efficiently utilizing facebook is Musharaf. He now has more than 100, 000 fans where as PTI's official group only has 11,000.

Please think and act before its too late!

What on earth Obama"s facebook adventures or Musharraf's facebook journeys have got to do with Imran Khan? People are so naive here that they simply dont understand the Art of Politics. I mean Pakistan is a 3rd world developing country. 75% people live in villages and instead of conatcting Kisans farmers , poors, masses IK should be wasting time on useless twitters and facebooks? What an absolute rubbish suggestion. USA invented internet they are the leaders of world websites, internet, twitters and their people are fully aware of this technology. In Pakistan ..politics is very straight forward thara, biradari politics. Facebooks, twitters or some kind of rubbish will not win us votes. Musharraf is using facebook because he is out of job and he is free now a days. IK has got GENERAL ELECTION ahead of him huge pressureand accroding to some of you he should be purchasing NOKIA N96 , posh laptop along with facebook training what an absolute preposterous shambolic advises you people are suggesting that is why PTI has only managed 1 seat in 14 years because, youth youth youth????? again rubbish..so much dependency on youth??? How much youth will actually turn out on election day to vote for PTI ? Youth is a good element but not something on which PTI can live on to. So many non political people on these forums contribute childish non political statements. IK twitter, laptop, posh cell fone what a joke??? IK should be spending more time in finding ELECTABLE candidates who have personal vote bank of 15000 from their biradari we need seats we dont need facebook crap. IK should be out of his house and london adventures and must spend lot of time with FARMERS, KISANS, should press on issues in JALSAS (clean water, farmer subsidies, thana-kacheri issues, gas, electricity, low taxes, low tarriffs) and according to some of you IK should be doing Cell fone training, Internet training facebook adventures ..just rubbish. In Pakistani politics facebook, twitters are waste of time. What matters is electable candidates with biradari votes plus PTI jalsas, plus PTI personal votes through direct rabita mohim. In USA, UK politics is entirely different ball game.

Guys guys Hold on... IK had an old phone till last year but he has a blackberry now. He checks his emails, and texts very frequently. Yes, he most likely deletes those long emails. But he responds to texts and emails (albeit brief). I have personally and Web Management have shown him website. I along with Dr.Nasrullah have repeatedly asked him to come on the web and has still not come. He still holds the data in our face that less than 1% of Pakistanis access the web. I asked him that there are more than 30,000 members on the web (far more than any of his jalsas) and these are able and capable people and once these members become inspired they can generate more than 5 other members (which could mean 150,000 members) - this is just the beginning. I think we will continue to work on him and I continue to cajole him, give him feedback that web is vital in this day and age. Dr.Alvi is very active, so is Saifullah Niazi but you are right we have to break the barrier with Chairman. But I think he is coming close as he was just mentioning to a reliable source that he will get on net soon. I think once he gets the hang of it, he will love it and it will galvanize us fully and he will find these members responsive and very willing to work for him. Btw, we will be announcing some very good news for US PTI members regarding our financial system set up in the next couple of weeks. Dr.Asad

This has just given me the push I needed to activate my twitter account! Its a grat idea. As people already mentioned the Obama strategy used web 2.0 tech very successfully. The onus is not on IK to do this, but for the IT team to put a strategy together. I think we sometimes forget IK is heading toward his 60th year in a year or two. He is of a different generation. What is remarkable is his continued connection and relevance to the youth. What he lacks in tech savy, he more than makes up for in other areas

I said it in a humorous way, not intended as a criticism. I myself has old-fashioned cell which has only the basic feature.

As far as the emerging digital media is concerned, it is a mistake to ignore it. Recently, political movements were organized using facebook, youtube, twitter. Not in developed countries, but in third world! Iran, Philippine are the very recent examples. Digital penetration in Iran/Philippines is not more than Pakistan.
