A very simple news item has appeared in national press on7/3/2010 entitled “Ban suggested on used computer imports”.For millions of readers it must be a normal news item but for the serious readers and for those blessed to think over there is a very interesting and meaningful but very painful point to ponder if not answer to a long silent question puzzling the commoners. To know the real depth of it the words contained in the said news highlighted in capital/italic here have the hidden meanings inside. The news item reads that the Ministry of Information Technology “HAS RECEIVED” a letter from Asif Ali Zardari wherein the Ministry“HAS BEEN ASKED” to “Draft a PROPOSAL” highlightingfactors that necessitated banning of import. The newspapers themselves have then added a bit the commentary that the Multinationals more particularly the Intl are long pressing the Government to ban import of second had computers so they could enlarge their marketing. The newspapers also say that the Intel is the biggest exporter to Pakistan but has not established any manufacturing unit here while it has in India. The Italic Bold Underlined wording if are given due attention it would real that Asif Ali Zardari has ordered the Information Technology Ministry that a Summary/Note “be prepared” which should argue (in favour of a ban) that now import should be banned and this Summary/Note be channeled through proper channel to the Cabinet/his table for turning it an official decision. The italic bold words give a clear cut message to the Information Ministry that Asif Ali Zardari wishes to ban import of second hand computers and thus now what should be the theme angle of the proposed Summary.Had there been any real desire for the betterment of the country the letter of Asif Ali Zardari should had the wording to the Ministry of Information that it evaluates judiciously in the larger interest both of the country and the common man and puts up its recommendation that should the import of second hand computers be restricted/banned or further liberalise. The 10% commission always has its value and no Choudhary can stop it.
