London, Jun.7 : Jemima Khan, the ex-wife of cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan, has described Pakistan society as an entity of endless contradictions, and is gravely concerned about current turbulent situation in that country.

Khan, who is in Pakistan with her two sons and staying with Imran at his Islamabad residence, is of the view that Pakistani society is hostile and hospitable, euphemistic and unambiguous, spiritual and prescriptive, aggressor and victim.

Khan says that she is visibly perplexed over the sudden change in Pakistan's condition, and upset by the worsening scenario.

Remembering the days when she spent most of her 20's in Islamabad, she said the city was considered an ideal family posting for foreign diplomats, green and clean and offering an easy life, if a little dull, but things have changed now.

"Now, I have to go through four security checkpoints manned by armed police to reach a particular locality inside the city," Khan said.

She also visited the refugee camps of the Swat displaced, and it was there she felt that the Taliban still has the support of people, she writes in an article for The Times.

"There's certainly support for the Taliban in the camps. They represent, for many, an opposing force to an army that 'drones' its own people. America's war on terror, supported by the Pakistani army, is unanimously viewed here as a war on Islam.

Newborn twins have been named Sufi Mohammad and Fazlullah after the two militant leaders in Swat," she mentioned.

She also visited Lahore; the city she feels is the most conservative.

"Nothing sums up Pakistan society's topsy-turvy nature quite like the Heera Mandi in Lahore, one of the most conservative cities, where the prostitutes wear burqas and girls with honour dress like Wags," Khan said.

---

Indeed, she is absolutely right that people living in controversies and denial will never seek truth. We all love you Jemima, (God Bless You)

They shouldn't have separated. They made a perfect couple not only in terms of beauty but also their thought ,wisdom and vision.

Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to GOD.

Jemina Khan's chracterization of Pakistani Society is tue and correct. Our contradictions are part of slave mentality and influence of religion without knowing the religion.

Pakistan elites copy bad things from western culture and thinks that they are very liberal and moderate. However, they don't follow good things of westers culture. For example;

Making a line
Working Hard
Doing your own choirs
Treating every one with respect
Follow the system
Majority of western in their daily lives are honest
Don't interfere in any one's personal business

However, Pakistanis feel proud by copying Michael Jackson or speaking English. Urdu TV News use
half of the words in English. We copy western music and copy love scenes. We think rap music is very cool. We wear t-shirts in Pakistan where it say " I love NY." why? why can we wear a t-shirt which says, "I love Lahore."We wear jean with holes in it and boyr grow long hair (hippy style). We celebrate Mother's day and Father's day. We think celebrating valentine day is very cool. These are all signs of lack of confidence and being ashamed of your own national identity.

We, the Pakistanis consider ourselves the greatest muslims in the world. However, majority have not studied Islam and did not do any research to find the real Islam. Some of the customs and traditions at the time of Prophet Muhammad (PUH) were part of Arab culture and not necessarily Islamic. However, we are so ignorant and stubborn and discussing any thing become kufar. This is a big stumbling block in our progress.

Islam is the most beautiful and true religion. We can change our lives and destiny of our country if there is balance between the religion and our cultural values.

Regards,
Sehar Khurshid

His kids come to Pakistan to visit him during their summer vacations.
