A ‘meet and greet’ event was held on Sunday 4th March,2012 by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ( PTI ) UK southeast in Southampton ,UK to interact with its members and supporters in Southampton .General public was also invited to this event and about 30 new PTI members were made.PTI office bearers from other regions also joined in. The event was sponsored by Accident Claim Care and Texas Grill restaurant. Prominent organisers included of Asim Basraa, Khalil Sudhan, NasirMajeed, Saeed, Qaiser, Rizwan, Pervaiz, Jalil, Ajmal, Yassar Khan and Qadir Khan. After recitation of the Holy Quran and Naat-e-Rasool Maqbool by Mr.Saeed and FarukhSaleemi respectively, the General Secretary PTI UK southeast Mr Aamer Rana delivered the keynote speech on the objectives, mission and latest situation of PTI UK. He highlighted the importance of overseas voting and fundraising. This was followed by a speech from PTI Southwest president Dr. SabreenaRazaq who encouraged the audience to promote female participation in the organisation of PTI .She hoped that more families will come in PTI UK events in future as PTI is equally popular in women population of Pakistan.BBC anchor and broadcaster Reham Khan said she was impressed with this gathering which proves that PTI is a fastest growing party of both Pakistan and (British Pakistanis) in the UK. Vice President Southeast UK Khalil Sudhan thanked the local community for its support and vowed to strengthen party at grass root level. Author, businessman and local community leader Mr SherAfzal Khan Balakoti appreciated the role and personality of Imran Khan and indicated that Imran Khan and his party are very popular in KPK province of Pakistan from where he hails .He appreciated a healthy political meeting of first of its kind in the city of Southampton held by PTI UK first ever elected body. General Secretary PTI London Mr. FurqanNadeem shared views on PTI roadmap, Insaf Research Wing (IRW), and PTI policies for future government. Realising that PTI backbone and vote bank is the youth of Pakistan the key organiser of the event Mr NasirMajeed suggested that student memberships and coordination of student wings between UK and Pakistani universities should increase. On a video link from Pakistan to the UK, the president of PTI Punjab youth wing Muhammad Madni apprised participants of the political situation after historic jalsa of 30th October 2011 in which PTI tsunami appeared as major force in country’s politics .He said overseas Pakistani are a major asset of PTI and Pakistan and they must play their role to bring about a change for better Pakistan under the leadership of Imran Khan.A nice poem dedicated to Imran Khan was present by Farooq Saleemi. Elder of several families in Southampton, a respected local personality and secretary Muslim council of Southampton Fazal Khan (KHAN JEE) talked about charisma of Imran khan and announced joining of Nadir Khan and Pathan families /clans in PTI.
In his concluding speech, President PTI UK Southeast Asim Basraa thanked all the participants, and sponsors and organisers. He urged them for increased participation next time. He elaborated that PTI is the only true democratic party of Pakistan where elections are held on intra party basis and there is a system of checks and balances for everybody including top leadership, whether in power or when they are not in power. Members of PTI are allowed to express their opinion in candid and civilised manner. He reiterated that PTI alone represents the change and will solve the problems of people of Pakistan. |
