Press release PTI UK London Team and IRW Seminar on Policies & Innovation for Pakistan

April 22, 2012 London - PTI’s Insaf Research Wing (IRW) and PTI UK London Team together held a seminar on PTI’s vision and policies for Pakistan. The chief guest was head of PTI think tanks Mr Feroz Khan. People from all walks of life, from Pakistani community, members and non members packed the seminar. It was the first time that a Pakistani political party held an informative seminar on policies and not on general political issues. The highlight of the seminar was the interactive and lengthy Q & A session on policies; which attracted a lot of people who are not active in politics directly but feel for Pakistan.

It was a rare sunny Sunday afternoon and Mr Feroz Khan thanked the audience for sacrificing their time for the seminar. The event started with Holy Quran recitation and special prayers for the soldiers in Siachen and the victims of the recent plane crash in Pakistan. Kashif Khan during his opening statement highlighted the pledge the founding father made in 1947 and reiterated the need of urgent actions required to tackle multiple crises facing Pakistan.

Asim Khan, president PTI London, spoke about the important role overseas Pakistanis are playing through PTI international chapters. He also explained the future vision and plans of PTI UK to involve more members of Pakistani community to help the movement in Pakistan. Mr Qawi Awan who is the vice president PTI London then gave a presentation on energy crises and their possible solutions.

Asad Mahmood who is currently a coordinator for Insaf Research Wing (IRW) explained to the audience how a member can participate in the whole policy making process. He emphasised that every member should become active and should participate in the recommendation of policies process to the main think tanks of PTI. He also presented the recent work IRW has done to the audience.

Mr Feroz Khan then took the stage and presented the policies for Pakistan in detail. He gave an in depth view of changes PTI think tanks have proposed. His main focus was education system, tax collection, social support system and how PTI plans to tackle the energy crises. The audience cheered when he based his system on leading by example and announced that PTI will get rid of VIP culture from Govt officials in the first step. Mr Feroz Khan, being the in charge of PTI’s first 100 days plan, told the audience how PTI will have to use urgent strict measures to help solve the immediate crises faced by Pakistan.

He stated PTI’s focus for economic policies was not the privileged class but the poor. He talked about how the party has made a plan to start venture capital schemes for the youth, and how they have planned to get more foreign investment. He said that Pakistan under PTI will depend on its local products and how empowering small businesses will help achieve this goal.

This followed by a long and an informative Q&A session in which the audience asked question directly to Mr Feroz Khan. At the end of the event a lot of participants pledged to take active part in this process for a better Pakistan.
