London: Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) UK members staged a peaceful protest to Saturday outside Pakistan High Commission to show solidarity with Pakistan’s Supreme judiciary. More than 200 PTI members including elected office bearers from across the UK gathered on “Save Judiciary” call of Chairman Imran Khan.
President PTI London Mr Asim Khan, who was leading the protest, condemned the Parliament for backing convicted Gillani. PTI under the leadership of Imran Khan is laying foundation for a New Pakistan, he added. We are fighting for an independent and free judiciary, while those who are supporting the current regime want to ruin the whole judicial system of Pakistan, said Asim Khan.
Gillani on various forums including National Assembly has contempt the judiciary and ridiculed the Supreme Court, said Vice President of PTI London, Qawi Awan. He further said that a law breaker cannot be a law maker and Gillani must resign immediately.
General Secretary PTI London Furqan Nadeem said that Imran Khan has pledged to save Judiciary and we would always stand by our leader. Gillani and Zardari Government have plagued the infrastructure of every organisation of Pakistan and it is the need of the hour to free our country from these corrupt rulers, he added.
Convicted Gillani must resign on moral grounds, said Dr Fouzia Sadiq Information Secretary PTI London. Yousaf Raza Gillani must demonstrate his loyalty to the constitution of Pakistan and not to Asif Ali Zardari, she added. She said, “It is Zardari who is leading Pakistan towards absolute destruction”. Money sitting in Zardari’s Swiss accounts belongs to the people of Pakistan and Gillani by not writing a letter to Swiss Government has confirmed his dishonesty to the people of Pakistan, she said.
On this occasion, Senior Leader Amjad Khan said that PTI will never take a break unless these corrupt rulers are uprooted and Pakistan’s money is brought back from Swiss accounts to where it belongs. Zaid Khan, Finance Secretary London, said that Gillani has shown lack of discipline by disobedience towards the supreme organisation of Pakistan and we demand his resignation.
The participants were holding placards in their hands inscribed with slogans like ‘Go Gillani Go’ and ‘Convicted Prime Minister’.
People from different walks of life, including women and children also participated in the demonstration.
