FUND RAISING BBQ – MEDIA REPORT
For Internally Displaced People in Swat, Buner and adjoining areas, a fund raising BBQ event was successfully organised by the energetic young team of PTI Australia NSW Chapter on Sunday, 07 June 2009 at Bicentennial Sydney Olympic Park, Homebush Bay in the afternoon.
It was expected to be clearing showers and the weather had been beautiful throughout the day.
For this noble cause, Tandoori Hut – a Pakistani restaurant in the suburb of Enmore, Sydney, had offered its sponsorship and full support. Several Pakistani friends, bachelors and families, turned up at the designated spot, Hill Pavilion, to show their solidarity and cohesion with those brothers and sisters of Swat, Buner and neighboring areas who have been displaced from their homeland due to ongoing fighting between Pakistan Army and Taliban E Pakistan. PTI flags were displayed around the Hill Pavilion hut that made it easier for guests to identify the spot quickly. Young team members, under the presidency of Mehmood A. Chadhar, efficiently served the fresh BBQ to guests depicting true sense of hospitality. Some brief speeches were also made on this important occasion. Mr. Salik Hameed Khawaja, who recently joined PTI Australia NSW Chapter, had been given the responsibility to announce speakers’ names. General Secretary, Mr. M. Farhan Arif, recited a chapter from Al – Quran. Executive Committee member, Mr. Asif Qumer talked briefly about readiness of Pakistan for Sharia Law. In his address, he emphasized on finding the root causes of difference of opinions within several sections of Islamic belief before initiating the attempt to enforce the Sharia Law in the country. A member, Sahibzada Nadeem Muazzmy, talked about Rising Leadership in Changing Pakistan. He elaborated three stages of revolution in Pakistan that has already been initiated under true leadership of Imran Khan to take the nation to its pinnacle.
In the end, president – Mr. Mehmood A. Chadhar – spoke to all attentive audience about the
current catastrophe being faced by innocent inhabitants of Swat, Buner and nearby areas. He
supplicated to all present with extreme emotions to donate generously for this righteous cause
keeping in mind that it was not the Zakat money or the Sadqah amount. It was, according to
him, the right of their brothers and sisters in Islam who were looking at them with rays of hope emerging from their hearts during these harsh moments of their lives. It is the Islamic, human duty of every Pakistani, especially expatriates, to come forward to donate altruistically whatever they can, and from whatever platform they should, he was quoted saying. Guests and participants, later on, dug deep into their pockets to reiterate the everlasting promise that we, as a Pakistani nation, are like single body; if one part of the body is in trouble others feel the pain too. The amount of AUD 6500.00 was raised according to confirmed report from Mr. Mehmood A. Chadhar – President, PTI Australia NSW Chapter, which would be sent on urgent basis to the donation fund established by PTI in Islamabad, Pakistan. Maghrib prayer at dusk was offered in congregation as well. Everyone appreciated the teamwork shown by the office bearers (Mr. Asim Saleem, Mr. Saleem Cheema, Mr. Hassan Ashraf Chatta, Mr. Laeeq Hamid , Mr. Yasir Sibtin, Dr. Ghaffar Kiyani), and members (Mr. Khurramme Razzaq, Mr. Naseem Muhammad, Dr. Sohail Rana, Mr. Hassan Fazeel, Mr.Dawood Saqib, Mr. Asrar Ahmed Chadhar, Syed Hamid Shah and many more ), of PTI Australia NSW Chapter.
