Lahore Feb 5: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Women’s Wing led by President Punjab Saloni Bokhari held a demonstration outside the Lahore Press Club to condemn the most shameful verdict handed out to Dr Aafia Siddiqui in a court of law in the United States.
The court in New York has violated every International Law that has been penned since 1945 to protect Human Rights and PTI Women’s Wing have held protests simultaneously throughout the country on Saturday.
Pakistanis, and all those who believe in true democracy and a fair justice system, are dismayed at the sham trail that was permitted in a court of law as well as the discriminatory opinions that were allowed to filter through into the US media prior to the trial.
PTI demands that this Pakistani woman be returned to Pakistan immediately for the verdict has clearly exposed the American discrimination and bigotry.
PTI Chairman Imran Khan was the first Pakistani to raise the issue of the unjust US policy of ‘rendition’ and to demand that Dr Aafia be returned to her family. We have been demanding this at every platform and will continue to do this until justice is meted out.
Our government, Ambassador Husian Haqqani in particular, has to show some spine and insist that the people of Pakistan demand that Dr Aafia be released immediately and others who have been illegally detained, or are on the missing person’s list must also be brought back.

Lahore, Feb.7 (ANI) : Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan has urged the government to seriously pursue the case of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui, who was recently indicted by a US court on terrorism charges, and take concrete step to ensure her safe return to the country.
Speaking during a seminar here, Khan criticised the Gilani government for not doing enough to save Aafia.
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) chief blamed Pakistan’s current leadership for being ’slaves to the dollar government’.
Meanwhile, under intense pressure and growing public criticism, the Foreign Office has decided to hire new law firm to defend Aafia in the court of law.
President Asif Ali Zardari has already assured Aafia’s family of all legal and financial help.
It is pertinent to mention here that the government has already spent one million US dollar to hire three lawyers, who failed to defend Aafia during hearing in a Manhattan court.
The legal experts were picked by Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US, Hussain Haqqani, who, according to many in the country, also failed to get support from the Obama administration in the issue.
According to sources, Aafia’s family is likely to challenge Afghan police’ report that was considered by the US court as a base to declare the Pakistani neuroscientist guilty on all accounts.
Various human rights organizations and legal experts have also expressed their concern over the authenticity of the Afghan police’ report. (ANI)
