Political grandstanding by chief minister will not solve problems: Omar Cheema

Lahore Feb 8th 2010: Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf Central Information Secretary Omar Sarfraz Cheema advised the PML-N leadership to better take some constructive steps to  help ease the food crises rather than resorting to political grandstanding as the announcement by Shahbaz Sharif that if Nawaz Sharif becomes the Prime Minister he will provide roti at two rupees all over Pakistan, with the national exchequer bearing the costs of the exercise.

He said that if they are so concerned about the people of Pakistan why don’t they set an example by supplying sugar from their own sugar mills at subsidized rates to help reduce the price rates. He further said that If  at all they had to imitate   PTI’s program of providing subsidized Roti to downtrodden masses they should have generated resources from baitul maal or through public donations rather than putting burden on provincial kitty. Thanks to their mismanagement and ill conceived policies the incumbents have already sunk Punjab neck deep into debt, now merely to extract cheap political mileage; they want to sink Pakistan into the same morass.
