Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Islamabad Chapter staged a protest on Wed 12th September in the vicinity of Pakistan Foreign Office, Islamabad. The protest was originally meant to be held infront of the FO on the arrival of US Dpty Secretary of State Mr John Nagroponte, but heavy presence of Federal Capital Police and blockades didn't allow that to happen as planned. John Negroponte held talks at the Foreign Office with Pakistani Foreign Seretary Riaz Mohammad Khan. Seventy to eighty protestors lead by PTI Chairman Imran Khan gathered to record their sentiments against the double standards of the US. Imran Khan said that US are talking about fostering democracies in the Muslim world and about 800,000 people have been killed in Iraq in the name of democracy. And here he is coming to prop up a military dictator, and then trying to form this dream-team, so called liberal team. Made-in-Washington democracy is being imposed in Pakistan, which we reject. Protestors chanted anti-Musharaf, Anti-US and Anti-Altaf slogans and held up placards saying: 'Negroponte Go Home', 'War on Terror is War of Terror', 'Stop Meddling in our Affairs', 'Negroponte You are Not Welcome'. |
