| By fmirza | 1332 Views | | Opinion Articles, Socio-economic issues | If Pakistan’s Westernized class starts to study Islam, not only will it be able to help society fight sectarianism and extremism, but it will also make them realize what a progressive religion Islam is. They will also be able to help the Western world by articulating Islamic concepts. Recently, Prince Charles accepted that the Western world can learn from Islam. But how can this happen if the group that is in the best position to project Islam gets its attitudes from the West and considers Islam backward? Islam is a universal religion and that is why our Prophet (peace be upon him) was called a Mercy for all mankind. | | Read

| By Imran Ghazali | 1447 Views | | News, Socio-economic issues, Karachi |
KARACHI: Children chanted Pakistan Zindabad in unison. Taking their positions to sing the national anthem, they saw the solemn Quaid’s picture hanging on the wall.
This is the daily routine of the minor children to line up with a view to buying subsidised meals at the Insaf Sasta Tandoor, located in the Hazara Colony near Kalapul. “Someone either belonging to the colony or outside, can get two naans and a bowl of daal for Rs5 from the tandoor,” said Sadia Agha, one of the members of the Pakistan Insaf Welfare Trust, headed by Imran Khan.

| By Dr Arif Alvi | 1404 Views | | News, Socio-economic issues, Karachi | Those who claim the leadership of Pathan and Mohajir communities as well as the PPP have disowned that they have any hand in the Karachi Carnage. In fact they state, that they have said this in a coalition meeting with Kalima to convince each other (they were suspicious of each other too). Now the best thing they can do is to actively be on the streets and rush to all trouble spots and diffuse the situation. If they do this now I am confident the tensions would ease within a day. | | Read
