1st October 2023 News Headlines

A summary of today's important and breaking news regarding PTI and the country that the mainstream media of Pakistan will never show you.

  1. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has spent an unlawful detention of 57 days today. Imran Khan was initially held in Attock Jail and is now being kept in Adiala Jail, where his life is in severe danger. Imran Khan's lawyer, Shoaib Shaheen, revealed that the government itself has reported that an attack can be carried out on Imran Khan in jail. Imran Khan is being kept in Adiala Jail, which is even more stringent than Attock Jail, where there is no space to move, and no light comes in. This is a clear violation of the orders of the Islamabad High Court. The Supreme Court should take notice.
  2. The Islamabad High Court has issued a cause list of reserved decisions. Chief Justice Amir Farooq and Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri will announce the decisions. Session court and the anti-terrorism court had rejected bail on non-compliance, which Imran Khan had requested to be reinstated. He had also requested the relevant courts to decide on the merits of the cases.
  3. On one hand, the life of Chairman Imran Khan is in severe danger, on the other hand, the judiciary is showing complete insensitivity. Nearly dozen cases against Imran Khan in the Islamabad High Court are pending for the past two weeks. Chief Justice Amir Farooq is keeping the decisions reserved. The cases for bail are also experiencing continuous delays. Imran Khan's lawyers have announced that they will request for an early hearing of the cases in court on Monday and will also highlight the mistreatment Imran Khan is facing in Adiala Jail.
  4. Professor Zahoor Mashwani who was arrested from his home on May 10th  and was not presented in any court afterwards has been released after the final warning from Lahore High Court.
  5. Speaking in the “The Daily Talk Show”, Barrister Shahzad Akbar said, "Imran Khan was not transferred to Adiala Jail through a deal but for their own convenience because monitoring is better in Adiala. Facilities are granted in jail upon caving in to demands, but Imran Khan is not willing to make any deals. The foreign lenders who are being approached by the rulers are demanding political stability. Due to the imprisonment of the country's most popular leader, Imran Khan, investors are also not willing to come. That is why this situation cannot last for long."
  6. The Fascist Era, which started on May 9, is still underway. Thousands of workers supporting Imran Khan have been arrested so far. Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Pervez Elahi, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Khadija Shah, Aliya Hamza, Tayyaba Raja, Ejaz Chaudhry, Mian Mahmood-ul-Rashid, Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Haleem Adil Sheikh, along with others including Barrister Hassaan Niazi, Sheikh Rasheed, Usman Dar, Awais Younis, Abdul Kareem Khan, and Sadaqat Ali Abbassi are still missing.
  7. Like occupied Kashmir, holding the flags of Pakistan and Tehreek-e-Insaf has become a crime. Yesterday, the police arrested a citizen from the street for holding a flag in his hand. The citizen's only crime was expressing love for Pakistan and Imran Khan.
  8. The caretaker setup brought in for rigging in the elections is being exposed every passing day. In a viral video on social media, Pervez Khattak's son can be heard telling people in his meeting that the DCs and secretaries of other departments in the province are all his people who will wholeheartedly assist in rigging the elections. This is a clear violation of the Election Commission's stated rules.
  9. The Free and Fair Election Network Pakistan (FAFEN) has issued a response to the delimitation proposed by the Election Commission of Pakistan. FAFEN, in its report on delimitation, has stated that the average deviation in the population of 180 constituencies in the country exceeds the permitted 10 percent change. When the difference in population in constituencies is observed, it is clear that this delimitation is a violation of the principles of equal representation for elections.
  10. Prices of fruits and vegetables in Rawalpindi's Sunday markets have skyrocketed.
  11. The caretaker government has provided relief to oil companies and dealers in petrol and diesel, rather than to the poor. An additional 88 paisas per litre has been added to the margin of oil companies and dealers on petrol and diesel. The margin for oil companies has been increased by 47 paisas, whereas the margin for dealers has been increased by 41 paisas per litre. On petrol, the OMC margin has increased from 6.47 rupees to 6.94 rupees, while on both petrol and diesel, the dealers’ margin has increased from 7.41 rupees to 7.82 rupees. The OMC margin on diesel has increased from 6.70 rupees to 7.17 rupees per litre.
