Humiliating arrest and manhandling of Former Foreign Minister of Pakistan Shah Mehmood Qureshi despite Supreme Court orders.

Vice-Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi was arrested again by the police after he was released on bail from Adiala Jail after the Supreme Court's decision last week.

The Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner had withdrawn the detention order issued under the MPO. Despite having a bail, Shah Mehmood Qureshi was manhandled and dragged to the police van in front of his whole family and local media. His video quickly went viral, with individuals from every walk of life condemning this treatment in the strongest terms possible, labeling it as an assault on democracy and basic human rights. This treatment of an internationally respected senior politician with unparalleled service to Pakistan is a sign of the arrogance of the ruling elite. It's a mockery of the law, and the constitutional rights of the citizens are being violated every day. Pakistani people will never forget this cruelty and injustice.

Imran Khan reminded Election Commission members of their responsibilities.

Today, 144 days have passed since the illegal imprisonment of Chairman Tehreek-e-Insaf and former Prime Minister Imran Khan. Imran Khan is imprisoned in Adiala Jail, where various cases were heard against him. Today in Adiala Jail, Election Commission members refused to give a date in the contempt Election Commission case, on which Imran Khan himself came to the rostrum. The Supreme Court rejected Chairman Imran Khan's request for suspension of sentence. Acting Chief Justice Sardar Tariq Masood gave remarks. A 2-member bench of the High Court gave the verdict. After the holidays, a 3-member bench will hear the case.

Chairman Imran Khan's legal team presented arguments seeking bail in the NAB cases related to Tosha Khana and Al Qadir Trust. According to the lawyers, Imran Khan has not been arrested in any other case except these two. They expressed confidence that Insha'Allah, he will secure release upon being granted bail.

Imran Khan got permission to use a bank account for election expenses.

Imran Khan's plea to open bank accounts in Lahore and Mianwali for election-related expenses received approval from Special Court Judge Abul Hasanat Muhammad Zulqarnain. The court granted permission for the Adiala jail authorities to introduce the bank staff to Imran Khan by the jail manual.

Fear of popularity! PML-N has raised objections on Imran Khan's nomination papers for NA-122.

Today, the PML-N candidate objected to the nomination papers of Chairman Imran Khan in the Lahore constituency, on which the hearing was held. The lawyers argued that Imran Khan is fully qualified to contest the election. The Election Commission has no authority to disqualify Imran Khan. The hearing of the case was adjourned till tomorrow.

The government is preparing to burden billions of rupees on gas consumers.

The caretaker government has instructed the regulator to collect Rs. 232 billion from domestic consumers by January 1, 2024, with an additional 70 billion rupees to be obtained during the current season. As per information from private TV sources, the caretaker government is continuing the trend of previous administrations by diverting costly LNG to domestic consumers. Consequently, domestic consumers will bear an additional burden of approximately 70 billion rupees during this season.

Electricity prices are likely to rise again.

The challenges facing the people of Pakistan persist and worsen, with the burden of high electricity bills draining their resources. Adding to their woes, there is a looming possibility of another increase in electricity prices. The Central Power Purchasing Agency has submitted an application to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority, proposing an additional charge of 4.66 rupees per unit, which amounts to a potential extra burden of 36 billion rupees on consumers. NEPRA will conduct a hearing on this matter.
