3rd October 2023 News Headlines

A summary of today's important and breaking news regarding PTI and the country that the mainstream media of Pakistan will never show you.

  1. Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has been under illegal detention for 59 days today. For 59 consecutive days, Imran Khan's constitutional and human rights are being violated. He is being kept in a small, dark and dirty room in order to mentally torture him to break and accept the demands of the fascist system. The trial of the Cypher case has also been ordered to be held in a closed room in Adiala Jail. Imran Khan's lawyers have strongly condemned this decision, stating that all of this is being done out of fear of Imran Khan's public appearance.
  2. The notification of the Ministry of Law regarding holding the trial in jail is a clear violation of a fair trial, which will not be accepted at any cost. Article 10-A of the Constitution grants every citizen the right to a fair trial. Like the Toshakhana case, the ongoing proceedings of the Cypher case trial is being expedited in a hurry in a preplanned manner according to previously established decision.
  3. Today, Imran Khan, the Chairman, met his wife and his sister in Adiala Jail. According to the information provided by the lawyers, Imran Khan was transferred to an even smaller cell last night, which is a blatant violation of human rights.
  4. Imran Khan's lawyers have also filed a request in the Islamabad High Court against the bail rejected by NAB in the Al-Qadir Trust case and the Toshakhana case. The lawyers state that, just like in the other 9 cases, Imran Khan's bails will soon be reinstated in these two cases.
  5. Imran Khan's wife had filed a request in the Islamabad High Court yesterday, citing severe threats to his life in Adiala Jail. The court had raised objections to this request. Having addressed all objections, today, Imran Khan's lawyers have refiled the request, which has been scheduled for hearing day after tomorrow.
  6. PTI leader Usman Dar, was abducted from Karachi almost two weeks ago and has not yet been presented in any court. Usman Dar's lawyers filed a request in the Sindh High Court for his recovery, which was heard today. The court while expressing its severe displeasure, ordered the registration of a case against the police for misconduct and also directed the Interior Secretary of Sindh to submit a written response. The hearing is adjourned until October 18.
  7. Irfan Saleem, who was abducted from Peshawar a few days ago, had his case appealed by his lawyers in the Peshawar High Court. Today, the Peshawar High Court, while giving the verdict, ordered the immediate release of Irfan Saleem and directed the police officers and the Chief Secretary to refrain from illegal arrests in the future. The court has also taken sworn statements from the DC Peshawar and the Chief Secretary.
  8. Requests have been filed in the Election Commission against Imran Khan to remove him from the position of Party Chairman and to withdraw electoral symbols. The Election Commission will conduct the initial hearing on the requests on October 10. Requests have been submitted by Khalid Mahmood Khan and Muhammad Aun Saqlain, stating that Imran Khan was disqualified in the Toshakhana case, so he should be removed from the party position and PTI received funds through objectionable sources so the electoral symbols should be withdrawn from them.
  9. The caretaker government has increased electricity rates by Rs. 3.28. NEPRA issued the notification after federal government’s approval.
  10. Senior journalist Adnan Adil mentioned in his tweet, "In September, the official inflation rate was 31.4%. According to economists, if the inflation rate reaches 30%, then in Pakistan, over 2.25 crore individuals fall below the poverty line."
  11. The public in Azad Kashmir were peacefully protesting against high electricity bills and inflation. In response, the police conducted crackdowns, used batons, and even resorted to shelling. First, the PTI government was overthrown in Azad Kashmir and now an environment similar to occupied Kashmir is being created there.
